Why here

Why trade indices with Movement Markets

  1. 01

    One trade, a whole economy

An index CFD gives you exposure to a basket of the largest listed companies in a market in a single position, long or short.

  2. 02

Trade the cash and the futures

Cash indices track the underlying with a small overnight financing charge; futures-based contracts have no swap and a wider spread. Choose the one that suits your holding period.

  3. 03

    Extended hours

The US majors trade almost around the clock on weekdays, so you can react to earnings and data released outside the New York cash session.

  4. 04

    Small contract sizes

Trade from 0.1 of a contract so a single point move is a manageable amount, whatever your account size.

Liquidity

Institutional pricing, aggregated and passed through.

Quotes are aggregated from several bank and non-bank providers. We may hedge a position with a liquidity provider or take it on our own book — see the Client Agreement and our Conflicts of Interest Policy.

  1. Aggregated feedsSeveral providers compete for every fill, so the top of book holds through data releases and session opens.
  2. How your order is handledOrders are routed to our liquidity providers or executed by us as principal, depending on the instrument and conditions at the time.
  3. Costs you can seeRaw accounts show spread and commission separately; Standard rolls them into one spread. Nothing is hidden in either.

Frequently asked questions

Are indices traded as CFDs?

Yes. You never own the underlying shares; you trade the price of the index with the ability to go long or short and use leverage.

Do index CFDs pay dividends?

When a constituent company pays a dividend, cash index positions receive or pay a dividend adjustment so the CFD tracks the underlying fairly.

What hours can I trade indices?

Hours vary by index. US indices trade around 23 hours a day on weekdays; European and Asian indices follow their exchange hours with pre- and post-market coverage on the majors.
